Swim Speed Secrets Clinic : May 16-17

Last year, the USMS Swimmer magazine published a review of the book, Swim Speed Secrets by Sheila Taormina. In addition to the book, Sheila published a 16 week workout program with swim workouts and dryland training. In case you do not know who Sheila Taormina is, she is a four time Olympian. In 1996, she lead the 4 x 200m women's relay to a gold medal with a time of 2:00.57. She also competed in the 2000 and 2004 Summer Olympic games in the triathlon finishing sixth in 2000. In her last Olympics in 2008, she competed in the modern pentathlon.

One Hour ePostal Swim

This January, the Chicago Smelts are hosting a one hour postal swim. Distance swimmers, this is your chance to shine. The objective is to see how far you can swim in one hour. You can swim any stroke in any 25 yard pool of your choosing and at any time from January 1 to January 31. You will need a friend to record your spits on this page.  Registration for this event will start soon.

The 2015 State Meet is to be held in Pleasant Prairie, WI

On October 17, ILMSA representatives from teams (1 vote per 50 team members), voted to hold the 2015 state meet at the RecPlex facility in Pleasant Prairie, WI. The meet hosts will be from Libertyville Masters and Lake Forest Swim Club. These are the same hosts as last year. In addition, the Board has agreed to host another social on Saturday of the state meet weekend, which is April 10-12. The 1650 Free will be held on Friday, April 10th. There will be 160 open spots for this event, which will be held in two pools. In addition, there will be 200 spots for the 500 Free and 200 spots for the 400IM.
